Some iOS apps will run on a MacBook (with current Mac OS). Has anyone tried it with Photon?
Yes, this is how I use it. I have Stage Traxx 3 also running on the MacBook Pro and it sends midi changes to control the lights. There are a couple of things to be aware of:
- Photon consistently crashes when you change audio interface settings. I’ve also had this crash during a practice, but not during a gig (so far)
- Don’t full screen anything, if Photon is running, but another app is full screen it stops processing any incoming midi changes
Other than that, it works and we continue to use it.

It runs fine but I would never use it live. 4 out of 5 times I start it - it crashes on MacOS. I use it to develop and test DMX midi files (using LogicPro which talks to Photon) which I then run from my iPad running BandHelper(which talks to Photon)
