Beta Testing of Photon 2.4.0 (2401)

What is the planned timing to take the validated fixes found in beta 4201 and include them in a production release of the code? Thanks.

I just installed the iPadOS 16 beta on my iPad Pro with M1 chip, that means, I can use Stage Manager. @mchrysoc Do you also use an M1 iPad (new iPad Pro or new iPad Air)? I think that the Apps run without limitations if they are positioned at one desk (I attach a photo that shows it clearer). I think it, because YouTube videos keep on running during this. That‘s maybe a workaround - maybe it doesn‘t work, I‘m not sure, but I also didn’t get any notification that Photon will stop running in background when I‘m not in Live Mode when I use this.
I would really appreciate resizable windows for Photon, especially with Stage Manager it would be really helpful.

Discourse Hub is in the front, Photon in the Background, but both are opened.
If I didn‘t write clear enough, don‘t hesitate to ask. I hadn‘t any problems with Photon in background before, so I can‘t reproduce the problem and don‘t know how to test.

@Flupsi I’m running OS15.5 on a 5th generation iPad. If I try to have Photon and OnSong both open at the same time (not Photon in the background) OnSong is simply too small to be usable (see image). Therefore, background operation is necessary.

How can we get the beta version of the app? We have big stability issues with the latest 2.3 version.
The app crashes all the time being in fullscreen Mode while playing sequences for HUE & DMX lights.

@Shooters Back in May those interested in the beta received the following email. I’m not sure if the link for Testflight is specific or generic, but here it is:

Photon 2: DMX Light Controller 2.4.0 (2401) is ready to test on iOS.

This new 2.4 BETA version is mainly intended to make Photon more stable et increase its performances.

It fixes some bugs but integrates a power consumption monitoring system in order to adapt the calculations when the application is in background. This allows the application not to be interrupted even if it means losing some DMX frames.

The purpose of this BETA is to check that the crashes are no longer present and that the background mode is working properly.

To test this app, open TestFlight on iPad using iOS 14.0 or later and install the update.

It is stuck in the Apple validation workflow… this is very very long and we have no news. We contacted them to understand why. :crossed_fingers:

The 2.4.0 is here !!
Thank you for your help beta testers :sunglasses:

Hello

2.4.0 is here

We don’t support Stage manager or previous multitasks features
We need to do some adjusts on legacy photon parts (group control etc)
This is in our working list

Great news! If we’re currently running the 2401 beta, do we simply go to the App Store and download the latest (2.4.0) to our iPads?

Hi !
Yes you have just to update from the App Store

I updated to the released version of 2.4.0 for last night’s live gig. Photon worked great in the background behind my OnSong app. I have noticed that rebooting my iPad and restarting OnSong and Photon before each set ensures smooth operation without crashes or freezes.

The new features make the lighting work so much better with the Solo and Locked (or none if you like). It makes things run much smoother.

Here is us using it flawlessly. This program better be selling well! There is nothing like it!
