Questions before buying

Hello, I am interested in buying Photon 2 but I have a few questions.

  1. Will this app work with the My DMX Go hardware? If not what hardware should I buy?
  2. Most importantly, will this app work in the background? I wish to use my iPad for both sound mixing with M32 Edit and for lighting? Will this app allow lights to run continued scenes and presets even when the app is in the background? The My DMX Go app does not.
  3. How intuitive is the app for a beginner at lighting design and are there presets I can run off of?

  1. I dont know if My DMX Go is compatible with Artnet (it is one of the most popular DMX protocol)
  2. Yes it can run on background with the paid version
  3. You can try the free version to begin with and understand the app. You will see that Photon can be easier than others tools, it depends your use case.

Thank you, I just have a few more questions.

  1. Do you have any suggestions on hardware I can connect to an existing wifi network with?
  2. Is there any way to edit multiple groups at once? For instance, I have 8 different groups for my 8 different stage lights and even when I want to edit multiple to do the same thing I have to do each one individually.

  2. You could create a new group adding all the lights so you can controll all at once.
