I understand that part of the goal for Photon is to simplify, however, in case of a multi-light fixture, sometimes Photon overly simplifies them.
For instance, in the case of say… one of Chauvet’s many combo fixtures such as the 4bar, or Gigbar, or for LED panels such as the Stage Panel 384, you are relegated to changing the entire fixture to one color. You cannot change the individual lights to separate colors.
I suggest that the color selection area stays put and works just like it does now, as an overall quick adjustment to the entire fixture. However, when you click over to custom controls, all of the light’s channels should be available for individual adjustment there, that way you can set the color of individual lights on the fixture.
There are work arounds, you can create clusters of channels for the master controls and then one for each light. The downside of that is that I only have 6 fixtures for my band, but I have 56 fixtures in Photon in order to be able to set individual lights.
Maybe I’m wrong, but you can set any dmx channel to custom control. In a 4bar that means you have to add and setup one custom control for each lamp - in this case 4. You dont need more than 6 fixtures. But you are right - the inbuild controls (RGB, W, UV, Dimmer, Strobe, Position) are sometimes confusing or not really helpful. The good thing is, you must not use them.
Maybe I’m wrong here, I’ll have to double check, but the problem is that if I create custom controls, it then removes them from the RGB summary on the main page, so then my only option is to go into the custom controls and control each light individually every time. Currently its one or the other. You can control the entire fixture with a single RGB or you can control each component with a custom control. What I’m suggesting is having both. You can quickly set the entire fixture to one color on the summary page, or you can also go into the custom controls and change the lights individually. That way you still have the quick entire fixture control of the summary page, but the detailed control of the custom controls page when you want it.
