Is the group screen the only way to control a fixture? I can’t seem to find a way to individually access a fixture without putting it into a group first. There is an edit function when you click on the fixture in the mapping screen, but it is grayed out on all of them for me.

Yes the only way to control a fixture is to add it in a group.
If you want to control it individually you can create a groupe for each fixture.
The « EDIT » button you want to touch is just a title, not a button.
