Midi notes question

I am new to midi and dmx. I am creating midi notes in a daw (Logic) to trigger photon 2 from my iPad. That works fine. Photon 2 “responds” but, sometimes the light comes on at the beginning of the note and sometimes at the end. Some times the next note does the same thing. Other times it appears to work normally (I.e., a light turns on when the note occurs). I have the trigger mode set to “flash” and the latch mode set to “solo.” Any assistance would be appreciated.

Do you happen to have two buttons both with the same midi note?
I have a guitar processor where the triggers sometimes send double notes. That might also be an issue.
