hi,
i was just wondering if i could please have a downloadable user manual PDF link for the app
Hi, I’m a new user.
My email address is diego@qcode.it.
Can you tell me how I can access the new betas?
Which email address should I send my UDIDs to?
Thanks, Diego.
Would also like to join the beta. Please let me know what to provide and where. Thanks!
Hi,
I am gathering that you are involved in the production and support for Photon 2. As such I have noticed that you get inundated with requests and suggestions to enhance or improve the functionality of Photon 2. As such, you have a reasonable sized community of users now, that have obviously grown over time. In saying that, like any program that is designed to function to plan, programs are never finished. You can go on for decades in order to change behavior, looks, features, and performance of a program, and still feel like you haven’t even scratched the surface. My reason for this reply, is that something like Add a new dashboard, a feature that I would consider very necessary, has the post shows a date of September 2023 almost 2.5 years ago, and even then, it shows a beta version 2.6, which by the look of it has been in the pipeline for some time. Because of this, the competitive nature of any application whether it be DMX light control, word processing, or whatever application that is out there trying to compete with others, is demanding to keep up or catch up with others. I purchased the DMX512 pro version of Photon 2 a couple of weeks back, and I felt that you guys were on the right track, but as I pointed out, there are many add-ons that could really enhance your product, limitless in-fact, but needs to be well controlled, thereby I am suggesting that with such a wide community, I feel that making Photon 2 more of an open source product. With the help of the community, this could fast track features that would accelerate the product overall. Believe me, I have had several decades of programming all sorts of applications and know how many hands definitely help. I also have an electrical and electronics background. and I feel that now is a good time to try it out, and see what comes of it. I am sure, like myself, there are others that have multiple skills and also be willing to participate in this.
By the way, I previously replied to comdot and one other person in regard to wanting a PDF version of the documentation, and, as such, I have compiled it into a PDF version. I will also be documenting a more enhanced kind of help guide over the next few months to help with building a show, if by chance I see that it benefits with building a show. It is also beneficial for my own records as well. I will keep you informed of its progress, along many others that may want to correct where they see errors.
Kindest Regards
Colin
Hi Colin,
Thank you so much for your supportive message, it really means a lot!
Sorry for the delayed reply, I wanted to take the time to give you a proper response rather than a quick one.
As you may have already seen in the community, we’re shifting to a new business model to help us deliver updates more consistently. It’s still early days, but the response from the community has been really encouraging so far:
Photon+ : New business model for new features!
We’re also thinking about building a more structured way to collect and prioritize feature requests, somewhere users can submit ideas, vote on them, and help us focus on what matters most. We’ve always been very user-centric, and this feels like the natural next step.
Regarding open source it’s not something we’re planning for the core app, but it’s definitely something we could consider for the documentation or other side components. Your PDF compilation is a perfect example of that kind of community-driven contribution, and we’d love to see more of it!
On that note, another area we’d love to grow is tutorials and use case videos on YouTube for example. A few community members have already shared great content, and it might be worth grouping everything together or producing content under a shared Photon visual identity.
Thanks again for contributing, helping others in the forum, and pushing the product forward.
Cheers
