Will Photon 2 work with a PKNight CR011R Art-Net Node?

Hi everyone,

I’m new to Photon 2 and trying to build an iPad-only lighting setup for my band.

Current setup:

  • iPad running Photon 2

  • GL.iNet router (used for our XR18 and Mixing Station)

  • 8 generic RGBW PAR lights (7-channel mode)

  • Donner wireless DMX transmitter/receivers

I initially tried using an ENTTEC DMX USB Pro, but after some troubleshooting I realized Photon 2 appears to be designed around Art-Net/sACN rather than USB DMX interfaces.

I’m considering purchasing a PKNight CR011R Art-Net to DMX node and connecting it like this:

iPad (Photon 2) → GL.iNet Router → PKNight CR011R → Donner Wireless DMX → PAR Lights

A few questions:

  1. Has anyone successfully used the PKNight CR011R with Photon 2?

  2. Does Photon discover it automatically, or does it require manual Art-Net configuration?

  3. Any known issues or configuration tips?

  4. Would you recommend a different Art-Net node in a similar price range?

My setup only needs a single DMX universe and will primarily be used for programmed scenes and MIDI-triggered cues during live band performances.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I purchased the pknight east node blue which means I no longer need a router. I go from photon 2 to pknight to lights all wirelessly. From memory it connects automatically.

I used a raspberry in the past installing OLA and a usb dmx cable bought on amazon about 21 euros, if you then connect a wifi dmx transmitter to the cable that cost very little it works very well

I use the Lightning adapter that has RJ45 out directly to the PKNight

iPad→ Lightning Adapter→ (ethernet cable) PKNight → Par Lights and mini spots
